BCPHA members gathering for a Christmas open house celebration in British Columbia

A Night With the Plumbing, Heating, and HVAC Community in British Columbia

March 28, 20263 min read

Better late than never, we wanted to share a few photos from the BC Plumbing & HVAC Association Christmas event. It was a great night and a good reminder that the plumbing, heating, HVAC, gas, and refrigeration industry in British Columbia is more than just work. It is a community.

Most days in the trades are busy. People are out on job sites, driving between calls, fixing heat, repairing leaks, installing furnaces, setting heat pumps, running gas lines, and keeping buildings running the way they should. The work is important, and it keeps homes and businesses across British Columbia safe, warm, and working properly. But nights like this are a chance for people in the industry to slow down for a few hours and spend time together.

At the Christmas event, there were plumbers, HVAC technicians, gas fitters, refrigeration mechanics, suppliers, and people who help train the next generation of skilled trades workers. Some people had been in the industry for decades, and some were just getting started. Everyone had different stories, but everyone was part of the same industry that keeps British Columbia running behind the scenes every day.

The plumbing and HVAC industry is a small world. Many people work in different towns and cities across BC, but they often work on the same types of systems, talk to the same suppliers, and solve the same problems. Events like the BC Plumbing & HVAC Association Christmas party give people a chance to meet in person, shake hands, share stories from the year, and talk about where the industry is going next.

In British Columbia, the trades are always changing. There are new rules, new equipment, new technology, and new ways of building and heating homes. There is more focus now on energy efficient systems, heat pumps, better ventilation, and smarter controls. With all these changes, it is important for people in the plumbing, heating, HVAC, gas, and refrigeration industry to keep learning. That is one of the reasons industry associations are so important. They help people stay up to date, learn from each other, and keep improving the way work is done across the province.

One of the best parts about the trades industry in British Columbia is that even though companies are busy and working hard, there is still a strong sense of community. People help each other, answer questions, share advice, and support each other when things get busy or when problems need to be solved. That community feeling was easy to see at the Christmas event. People laughing, telling stories, talking about jobs from the past year, and talking about plans for the next year.

The plumbing, heating, HVAC, gas, and refrigeration industry touches almost every building in British Columbia. Homes, schools, restaurants, hospitals, office buildings, and shops all rely on these systems every single day. The people who work in these trades take a lot of pride in what they do, because they know their work matters.

The BC Plumbing & HVAC Association helps bring all of these people together. Not just for Christmas events, but for training, education, and industry support throughout the year. It helps keep the industry strong in British Columbia and helps make sure the next generation of plumbers, HVAC technicians, gas fitters, and refrigeration mechanics have the support and training they need.

So even though this post is a little late, we still wanted to share these photos and say thank you to the BC Plumbing & HVAC Association for putting the event together and for supporting the plumbing, heating, HVAC, gas, and refrigeration industry across British Columbia.

It was a great night, and we are already looking forward to the next one.
